To celebrate its 20 years of existence and 15 years of extraordinary presentations in Saint-Sauveur, the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur offers the public an unforgettable Anniversary edition filled with great premieres as well as encores from the leading companies that helped make the Festival’s history. The program features 26 innovative and original shows, including creations by four major international dance companies, the return of the International Choreography Competition and a schedule of activities that will thrill you as you discover the wonderful artistry from the greatest dance artists in the world. From the unique Stockholm 59° North // soloists from the Royal Swedish Ballet, (Best of 1998), the daring 3e étage // soloists from the Paris Opera Ballet, (a North American premiere), the exciting Gauthier Dance // Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart (Best of 2008), and the athletic and innovative Aspen Santa Fe Ballet (Best of 2004) from the United States, we promise a universe of outstanding talent and diversity. We have also included an exceptional musical event… An evening with one of the greatest operatic voices in the world: Joyce DiDonato. This exceptionally talented American mezzo-soprano is particularly admired for her interpretations of works by Handel, Mozart and Rossini. She has performed in the world’s greatest opera houses. Again this year, the Festival presents the Tohu Bohu program that offers children and their families an entire day of unforgettable activities that will let them unleash their creativity. Young fans of dance will have the chance to discover the Quebecois dance company Bouge de là that will perform L’Atelier, under the Big Top. This show will appeal to their imagination and open a world of perceptions as well as stimulate their imagination and curiosity. Thirty minutes before the first performance of each dance company, a short presentation of the guest company, its repertoire and its history, will help the audience to better understand and appreciate the work of each of these artists. The discussions will take place under the Big Top and will be hosted by renowned dance critic, Aline Apostolska
